The dinner bell rang at Lake Freedom today. Jones Fishery brought a large portion of our Spring Fish order today. So what was on the menu? We launched 2500 bluegill, 1000 bullfrog tadpoles, 500 pounds of minnows and 500 pounds of shiners. Trout, small mouth bass, and 600 crappie remain on back order at the moment.
So to help you imagine what 2500 bluegill are like. We loaded approximately 40, five gallon buckets of bluegill to get them all into the lake. Imagine catching 10 fish in a day....not a bad day fishing; right?. Then do it 249 more times.
We did another 25 or so buckets of shiners, 25 buckets of minnows and 25 buckets of tadpoles. As most of you know, we are intending to accomplish four primary goals. Feed the game fish, get population high enough help these fish reproduce, and finally, mix the gene pool to maintain a healthy fish population. See some of the pics below. We equally distributed the fish and tadpoles in the East, West, and North lakes.
The trout and small mouth bass will be delivered later in the year. The crappie we ordered are a bit larger than normal to giving them a much better chance to live long term. The crappie weren't quite ready - we will keep you updated when they deliver.
A special thanks to those who kicked in to the "Feed the Fish Fund" We are working hard to deliver what you asked for!
